Important financial industry news + marketing insights + good music.
GET THE MIXTAPE DELIVERED TO YOUR EMAIL INBOX EVERY FRIDAY MORNING.
I hope that as we head into 2023, you’re taking time to review what went right, what went wrong, and what new things you want to try out next year.
We’ve been going through that process here at Three Crowns, and we came to a hard realization:
It’s time to end the Mixtape.
Now, this doesn’t mean that we’re going away and that we won’t be sending newsletters anymore. We still will be.
But our emails are going to look a lot different in 2023.
Here’s what we’re going to change:
-
Our emails will get a lot more personal. Instead of a news aggregation newsletter, we’ll be writing personal notes to you each week from either myself or Zach, our CMO. We want to talk with you about what we’re working on, what we’re learning about successful marketing, and how you can apply it to your business.
-
We’ll keep news links around. We still think it’s important to share the news that resonates with us, but it won’t be the focus anymore. We’ll surface some links to things we think you should know, but for the most part the commentary will go away.
-
We might change the day. Fridays were the right day for a weekly news roundup, but they might not be the right day for this new format. In any case, we’ll still be in touch every week.
We all appreciate you choosing to have us in your inbox every week. We know it’s a privilege to “talk” to you like this, and we hope the new format next year helps to turn more of these messages into a dialogue instead of a broadcast.
Here’s to a great 2023 ahead.

With that being said, we still wanted to share a few links we like for articles that will help you create great content in 2023:
Must-Read Financial Industry & Marketing Articles
With that being said, we still wanted to share a few links we like for articles that will help you create great content in 2023:
How to Take Your Content from Generic to Original
There’s a lot of content on the internet. Like, a lot. Probably like a jazillion articles or something. And at least a squintillion of them are about finance-related topics. So how can you produce original content that stands out? This article has some great tips (along with some advice from Stephen King). It’s simple, really, but so easy to forget: Pick a topic, then find a unique angle.
How Your Landing Page Looks Matters More than You Think
Before you spend all that time, energy and money launching your first campaign of 2023, make sure you spend some serious time on your landing page. If it looks bad or loads slowly, your conversions will suffer. A good landing page can make all the difference. Let this article serve as your guide as it lays out five reasons your landing page might be underperforming, and how to fix it.
Looking to Make Your Linkedin Posts Pop Next Year?
If one of your 2023 goals is “better engagement on Linkedin,” then this article was made for you. Linkedin shared their top 10 posts of the year, along with the metrics and why those posts seemed to connect so well.
Turns out the secret is not using mountain-climbing as a metaphor for everything you do, which is weird considering how many people do it. Must be working for someone somewhere…
Here’s what we’ve been listening to this week.
