Onyx Advisor Network Launches to Support Underrepresented Advisors
Dasarte Yarnway and Emlen Miles-Mattingly joined forces to launch Onyx, a comprehensive entrepreneurial support platform for minority-led financial advisory firms, in January 2022. Everyone in finance knows the industry has a “pale, male, and stale” problem. Over 70% of advisors are men, and 80% are white. Leveling the field and providing more access and resources to underrepresented advisors is a huge need. We’re thrilled to watch this network take shape.
LASSO NEWS
Lasso, a social networking app, has launched to bring investors and advisors together in a way that’s not all too different from your favorite matchmaking apps. By building short or long-term financial plans, investors can send their goals to advisors, who then have everything they need upfront to see how well they fit and can provide the financial guidance to take those investors to the next level. Finding leads is hard for many advisors—Lasso’s an intriguing new entrant looking to make that easier.

The World’s Simplest Brands
Branding agency Siegel+Gale put out the 9th edition of their annual Simplicity Index, which ranks consumer views of a brand’s simplicity (i.e., approachability, ease of use, etc.). Fun fact: They claim that a portfolio of the world’s simplest brands has outperformed the global stock index by 1,600% since 2009.
