Unless you’re living under a rock, you probably noticed that Facebook and Instagram were down for several hours on Monday.
While we appreciated the great memes and creative responses from marketers at top companies, it was heartbreaking to see so many businesses and families scramble to find alternative ways to communicate.
The unfortunate moral of the story is that you should never put all of your eggs in one basket. In other words, be present on multiple platforms and don’t exclusively rely on huge corporations.

Potomac Makes Company Perks Public
Most companies keep their secrets behind their walls, especially private companies. Potomac isn’t your average business, though. You can see it in their marketing copy (Built to conquer bullsh*t) and in the ways their executives stand out with strong opinions. Their latest move is to bring transparency to employee perks by publishing everything you can expect to get when you work there.
Onramp and Digital Variable Annuity
Onramp Invest took over New York this past week, and they also took over the news with their involvement in Federal Life’s first of its kind private placement variable annuity. The annuity will provide exposure to Bitcoin and Ether, and Onramp will team up with Gemini to hold and trade coins. The digital asset revolution is here, and it’s moving faster every day.

Yourefolio Connects Advisors with Estate Planning Attorneys
Yourefolio, an estate and legacy planning software platform, partnered up with Inter Vivos, the largest estate planning firm in the country. This partnership puts Inter Vivos and its nationwide network of estate attorneys inside the Yourefolio platform to allow financial advisors a direct connection whenever they need to help clients create an estate plan or notarize documents. Pretty neat stuff.

This is a great reminder from Moz that competitor research is great and all, but it’s not always right for you. If you’re always looking for ways to “keep up with the Joneses,” make sure you ask yourself a few questions about what they’re doing first—namely regarding what makes the most sense for you. Does it fit into your strategy? Would it make your prospects’ experience better? Or are you just trying to keep up?
Here’s what we’ve been listening to this week.
