“On the Circuit” is a podcast where conversation sparks innovation, hosted by Johnny Sandquist from Three Crowns Marketing. This season, his guests include industry conference attendees from across the country.
Nate Hudson wouldn’t be the advisor he is today if he hadn’t joined the Financial Planning Association (FPA) in 2018.
“It’s played a big role in my development as an advisor,” said the FPA Nebraska 2024 President-Elect and Avior Wealth Management advisor.
He credits continuing education events and conferences like the Nebraska FPA Wealth Management Conference as incredible opportunities he’s had to form connections with other advisors who end up providing support and business insights.
Joining a professional organization is a wise decision for any advisor, especially any next-gen advisors. Nate says the industry can be hard to break into, but it’s easier with a supportive community — such as the one you can find through a professional organization.
How else does joining a professional organization benefit both you and your business?
Curate Centers of Influence
“I’ve had a chance to connect with attorneys, donor-advised funds administrators, CPAs that I’ve got to connect with through these presentations to make introductions for my clients, to help better my practice, to help better my firm,” Nate said.
Gather Valuable Takeaways
“We bring in speakers who provide us actionable, real-world advice that we can provide our clients,” Nate said of FPA events. “So it’s been a great resource to pick up tips and tricks and to pick up things that we can apply to our own practices to better our client relationships, to better our clients in their individual situations.”
Find Your People
“When you’re a young advisor in your twenties and in your thirties, it can be a tough business to break into and it can be a tough business to kind of mature through, if you will,” Nate said. “And finding people that can come together to support each other, give each other best practices and help each other to become better, I think is a really important thing that the FPA has an ability to do.”
Nate dives into all this and more on episode 35 of “On the Circuit.” He joins host Johnny Sandquist of Three Crowns Marketing for a conversation recorded at the Nebraska FPA Wealth Management Conference in October 2023 in Omaha.
