Although he estimates the number of M&As hasn’t changed much in the past year, the macroeconomic backdrop has certainly shifted.
“The appetite is still there to do M&A – the demand is still there from buyers,” Kawal explains. “There’s still a lot of reasons for sellers to come to the market, but we have a macroeconomic backdrop that has changed substantially, not least of which is market volatility and interest rate increases.”
